#GermanWordOfTheWeek 1: Handschuhkasten

"Handschuhkasten" (engl. "glove box"): A sealed container designed for the handling of hazardous substances, radioactive materials, or infectious disease agents under safe conditions in laboratories. The name of the container is derived from the gloves built into the front of the container. In these gloves users place their hands to perform tasks within a high purity inert atmosphere.
