Schleimbeutelentzündung (im Knie) (engl. prepatellar bursitis or colloquial: housemaid's knee, carpet layer's knee, coal miner's knee, nun's knee): Official medical term is "Bursitis praepatellaris". Prepatellar bursitis is an inflammation of the prepatellar bursa at the front of the knee. A typical sign for this condition is swelling at the knee which does not affect its range of motion. The bursitis may be caused by trauma, but is most common with individuals whose profession involves frequent kneeling, as the colloquial terms for the condition indicate.
